You’re an EHS professional. How many times have you walked into a restaurant or other public facility and noticed a blocked exit or fire extinguisher? No one else seems to notice your discovery. Employees appear to be completely oblivious to this obvious OSHA violation. It isn’t because you’re smarter than everyone else. Surely, these people are aware that exits and fire extinguishers aren’t supposed to be blocked. The truth is, you notice because you have an increased awareness. It’s what you do on a daily basis and it seems you can’t get away from noticing these things.

Well, you need not be a safety professional to have such an elevated awareness of safety hazards. OSHA training such as the 10 and 30-hour courses can be very beneficial in this regard. However, if you wish to maximize the affects of such training, you’ll get more bang for your buck, not to mention a safer workplace, if you customize it.

EI conducts on-site customized safety training for clients by visiting the facility to take pictures which can then be inserted into our PowerPoint presentations. There are numerous benefits to EI’s customized training. Primarily, it gives trainees the opportunity to see things with which they are familiar. They are seeing their equipment, their co-workers, their unguarded machines or blocked fire extinguishers. Seeing the things they work with or pass by each day makes a much greater impact than training conducted using text-only slides, clip art, or even pictures of a generic nature taken at a different facility. In addition, we provide all pictures to the client which provides them with professional quality pictures they can use for future in-house training.

Let an EI OSHA Outreach Training Program trainer customize your next 10-hour, 30-hour or other safety training. You’ll see an immediate improvement in awareness of hazards among your workers. Contact me at btaylor@ei1.com or (800) 717-3472 to learn more!
