ABOVEGROUND STORAGE TANK (AST) MANAGEMENT
STI SP001 is a standard published by the Steel Tank Institute (STI), a trade association that
focuses on promoting the integrity of steel tanks by providing guidelines for the inspection of aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) and related products.”
Inspections help ensure the structural integrity of the tank, prevent leaks or spills and address any potential corrosion or damage. The structural integrity of ASTs containing large quantities of hazardous materials is crucial due to the impact that a tank failure may have on human health, the environment and even to properties.
Since STI SP001 was born from the regulatory changes to the oil spill rules (40 CFR 112), EI added tank inspection credentials and services to our long list of tank-related services, including SPCC and RMP Plans, training, tank removal, spill response, etc. EI provides STI SP001 External AST inspections to a wide variety of customers throughout the country, ranging from the healthcare industry to chemical manufacturers.
EI’s experienced Certified SP001 AST Inspectors and Professional Engineers work together to provide our customers with thorough SP001 AST External Tank Inspections with strict adherence to the required guidelines to ensure the safety of the workplace and its local environment.
