About the Job
EI is seeking a full-time Environmental Engineer/Scientist for its headquarters office in Morrisville, North Carolina to expand our growing sustainability business and support other environmental compliance opportunities associated with serving our manufacturing clients. Our sustainability consulting practice currently includes energy conservation, water conservation and reuse, waste reduction and recycling, zero waste to landfill, ISO 14001, 45001, and 50001 program development and auditing, ESG reporting, and others.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the practice, helping to develop prospects and proposals and successfully manage and execute projects. Therefore, we are looking for a knowledgeable and experienced environmental engineer/scientist to join our team. In addition to a high degree of technical expertise, the position will require excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Your technical expertise will contribute both to the continued development of our sustainability practice and to our strong environmental compliance services.
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting and managing various types of sustainability services, such as ISO audits and waste and resource conservation assessments, and environmental compliance projects, such of permitting and reporting.
- Perform project tasks in accordance with environmental and other applicable rules and regulations as well as with approved project plans.
- Growing the business through participation in the marketplace, speaking at conferences, or publishing, plus scoping opportunities and developing proposals.
- Collect field data, observe, document field work.
- Use field equipment properly and in accordance with equipment specifications.
- Preparing technical reports, permit applications, correspondence, and plans.
- Stay up to date with industry regulations and best practices, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) including strong skills in document creation and formatting, spreadsheet management, and presentation design.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or science.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
- Understanding of environmental principles, practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with applicable laws, regulations, and standards and guidelines.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret and analyze complex data sets.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Additional Details
- Travel Required: a mix of local project work, short duration overnights (2-3 day away from home, and possibly full weeks on location)
