Bloodborne Pathogens Awareness


This course satisfies OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens standard (29 CFR 1920.1030) which prescribes safeguards to protect workers against the health hazards from exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials, and to reduce their risk from this exposure.





What You Will Learn

  • Know how to access a copy of the BBP standard and understand the information contained within it
  • Have a general understanding of the spread, control, and symptoms of blood borne diseases
  • Be able to recognize job tasks and other activities that may involve exposure to blood and/or other potentially infectious materials
  • Identify types of PPE, as well as proper use, removal and disposal
  • Understand differences between hospital and business settings regarding Ebola transmission and risks
  • Understand the Hepatitis B program
  • Discuss latest developments in the Ebola outbreak, including transmission, prevention, risks, and treatment
